Exelon/Constellation Energy, Multiple Facilities in Central Maryland Region
Before any routine or emergency maintenance requiring excavation begins, Exelon turns to A|I|DATA to provide utility marking at a number of facilities throughout the Baltimore metropolitan region. Beginning in 2007 we have been serving their needs and have become the de facto expert in underground utility location and marking. A|I|DATA has also been a contributor to a number of design and design-build teams providing valuable existing utility data enabling the efficient design and construction of new plant facilities.
One such notable project was the Brandon Shores Flue Gas Desulfurization Retrofit Project. This project added a significant footprint and underground infrastructure to the existing facility. Existing utilities needed to be accurately mapped so that the design-build team could reliably assess utility impacts and minimize downtime of critical infrastructure that would keep the plant operational throughout the construction process. A|I|DATA performed QL B mapping through the areas of potential impact and followed up with QL A test holes at locations critical to the design and construction of the new unit and all its appurtenances.
